What This Class Is About
Foundation Reading & Expression is where early literacy habits take root. Your child practises reading aloud, builds vocabulary, and learns to construct simple, correct sentences — all through explicit, step-by-step teaching rather than guesswork.
What We’re Covering This Term
- Reading aloud with confidence: daily practice turning written words into fluent, expressive speech.
- Oral storytelling: retelling and inventing simple stories to build sequencing and spoken expression.
- Tiered vocabulary: new words introduced in context and revisited often, so they actually stick.
- Sentence-level writing: building correct, complete sentences as the first step toward paragraphs.
- Daily review: every lesson opens with a quick recap of previous learning, so nothing is taught once and forgotten.
Why It Matters
At this age, the gap between a confident reader and a hesitant one often comes down to repetition and structure — not natural ability. Our “I do, we do, you do” teaching model means your child is never left to figure it out alone.
