Looking for a Year 7–8 English tutor? High school English asks for a different kind of writing — more analytical, more precise, and marked against much stricter criteria. This term is about making that transition feel manageable, and building toward VCE, WACE and HSC English.
What This Class Is About
Writing Improvement at this level sharpens the specific skills high school English assessments actually reward: analysis, structure, and controlled expression.
What We’re Covering This Term
- Analytical writing: moving beyond description into genuine analysis — explaining not just what happens, but why it matters.
- Structured responses: building answers that directly address the question, with a clear line of argument throughout.
- Precision in language: replacing vague, general statements with specific, well-chosen evidence and vocabulary.
- Marking criteria awareness: understanding what high school markers are actually looking for, so effort translates into marks.
Why It Matters
Many students who wrote well in primary school hit a wall in Year 7–8 simply because the expectations changed without anyone explaining how. This class makes those new expectations explicit.
Mica Academy teaches this class live online, so your child gets a qualified English tutor whether you’re in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or anywhere else in Australia.
